CBSET, Inc. ("CBSET," "we," "us") is a preclinical contract research organization based in Lexington, Massachusetts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit www.cbset.com or www.cbset.org (the "Site"), respond to our online advertising, contact us or attend our events. 3. Advertising and analytics

We work with advertising and analytics providers, such as LinkedIn and Google, that use cookies, pixels and similar technologies on the Site. These tools help us measure how our ads and Site perform and show CBSET ads to Site visitors on other websites and platforms. The providers may receive your IP address, device and browser information and the pages you visit, and may link this to an account you hold with them. Their own privacy policies govern their use of that information. If you submit your details through a lead form on an advertising platform, that platform shares them with us, and this Policy governs our use of them.

Depending on the law where you live, these technologies either load only after you consent (for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland) or run unless you opt out. Our Cookie Policy explains your choices.

4. How we disclose personal information

We disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers that host the Site, run our CRM, email and consent tools, and support IT and security, under contracts that limit their use of the data
  • Advertising and analytics partners, as described in Section 3
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, auditors and insurers
  • Parties to a corporate transaction, such as investors or acquirers, subject to confidentiality
  • Authorities, where the law requires or to protect rights and safety

We do not exchange personal information for money. However, our use of advertising partners may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or as targeted advertising, under some US state privacy laws. You can opt out as described in Section 5.

5. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information; to receive a copy of it; to opt out of its sale or sharing, targeted advertising and certain profiling; to object to or restrict its use, or withdraw consent; and to appeal our decision on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

  • Opt out of advertising: click Your Privacy Choices or Cookie Settings in the Site footer. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid opt-out for that browser.
  • Other requests: email info@cbset.com or call toll-free (800) 424-0196. We will verify your identity before acting on requests to access, correct or delete information. An authorized agent may submit a request with your signed permission.
  • Timing and appeals: we respond within the time the applicable law requires. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line, and then contact your state attorney general or data protection authority if you disagree with the outcome.
  • Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any message.
6. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

We process personal information on the basis of your consent (for non-essential cookies and, where required, marketing email), to perform a contract or respond to your request, for our legitimate interests in developing and managing our business and securing the Site, and to meet legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Prospect and inquiry records are deleted or anonymized three years after our last meaningful interaction. Client records are kept for the relationship plus any period required by contract or regulation, and applicant records for two years after the position closes. Cookie data is kept for the periods shown in Cookie Settings.

8. Security

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold, including a written information security program consistent with Massachusetts regulations. No system is fully secure, and we will notify affected individuals of a breach as the law requires.

9. International transfers

CBSET is based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. For transfers from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

10. Children

The Site is intended for business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

11. Additional information for California residents

In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information in Section 1: identifiers; customer records; professional and employment information; education information (from job applicants); internet activity; and approximate geolocation. We collected them from the sources and used them for the purposes in Sections 1 to 3, disclosed each category to service providers and professional advisers for business purposes, and keep them as described in Section 7.

We share identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which is "sharing" and may be a "sale" under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell or share sensitive personal information, or knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. California residents have the rights described in Section 5, including the right to know the specific pieces of personal information we hold. We offer no financial incentives for personal information.

12. Changes to this Policy

We will post updates here and revise the "Last updated" date, and will give notice of material changes on the Site or by email where appropriate. We review this Policy at least every 12 months.
