CBSET’s state-of-the-art biomedical facilities - a 40,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility in Lexington, and a newly refurbished 22,000 sq ft facility in Grafton - include vivariums, catheterization/imaging labs, surgical suites, and dedicated labs for necropsy, histopathology, SEM, and biomechanics. Our outstanding facilities are fully GLP-compliant, USDA-licensed, OLAW-Assured and AAALAC-accredited, and have an excellent record with the FDA and USDA.

Fully-equipped surgical suites

 

CBSET provides state-of-the-art and fully equipped surgical suites that can be configured to meet the needs of individual studies and sponsors. Each operating suite is equipped with anesthesia machines, ventilators, hemodynamic and airway gas monitoring systems, surgery tables, and hospital-grade fluoroscopy systems sufficient to perform major survival surgery on large animals. All labs feature ample space for additional equipment stations, such as imaging or endoscopic towers. Each surgical suite has a dedicated prep and recovery room and scrub area, and includes an adjacent conference room with viewing windows, video output and two-way audio for comfortable study monitoring. Surgery suites are also fully equipped for videotaping or broadcast of procedures over a secure internet connection using a variety of camera locations and positions.

The surgery suites are equipped with the latest equipment for echocardiography, fluoroscopy, IVUS, endoscopy, surgical video recording, TEE/TTE, faxitron, digital x-ray, and SEM, including:

CBSET’s AAALAC-accredited swine research center, a newly refurbished 22,000 square-foot facility located in Grafton, MA, provides purpose-bred swine and facilities for research.

Necropsy and histopathology labsnecropsyroombluehoses

CBSET’s dedicated necropsy suites for full tissue harvest and fixation include downdraft tables, fume hoods for directed ventilation, and direct pass-through windows to the histology laboratory to ensure chain of custody for all materials. Our dedicated histopathology lab contains all the necessary equipment for paraffin or resin-embedding, sectioning, staining, immunohistochemistry and analysis.


Secure conference facilitiesconferenceroom

CBSET’s unique facility provides secure, self-contained conference rooms with direct visibility, access and communication into our surgical suites. Facilities include observation window and audio into surgery suites, private changing area and lockers, bathroom, scrub area and direct access to the surgical suites. The conference rooms also come fully equipped with everything you need to stay productive, including wireless internet, teleconferencing, printing capabilities, and catered meals and snacks.


Multispecies housinganimals

CBSET sets the precedent in multispecies facilities, with accommodations for swine, sheep, calves, rabbits and rodents (mice and rats) as well as other species on request. CBSET’s attentive veterinary staff acts in accordance to an internally governed Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), as well as with strict adherence to the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) regulations and standards as set by OLAW and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
