Rami Tzafriri, PhD. “Plaxitel-Coated PTA Balloon Catheter: microcrystalline coating for improved delivery and retention.”
Summary: Drug coated balloons are a promising therapy for peripheral arterial disease, but differences in efficacy between devices and non-responders cannot be understood using current methods. To address this void, we developed methods for visualizing and quantifying coating distribution on arterial surfaces after balloon treatments. The presentation lustrated the ability of these methods to differentiate tissue coating patterns for two paclitaxel coated balloon catheter designs. The conclusions of this work may help explain the materials effects of the clinical studies. .
