Summary: Periarterial lymph nodes and blood vessels can shield nerves from radiofrequency heating and limit the efficacy of catheter based renal denervation (RDN). We quantified the distributions of accessible and shielded nerves surrounding porcine renal arteries and found significant dependencies on nerve distance from lumen, location along the length of the renal artery and circumferential quadrant.
