Summary: Drug coated balloons are a promising therapy for peripheral artery disease, but efficacy varies between devices and with lesion complexity. The accepted hypothesis that coating distribution at the treatment area dictates efficacy cannot be tested by current methods. We developed a preclinical method for imaging and quantifying balloon-delivered coating to tissue surfaces.
